About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Yard Operative to join a busy site in Winsford. This temporary Yard Operative role will involve supporting the daily movement and organisation of vehicles across a large 7 acre site.
The successful Yard Operative will be responsible for shunting vehicles around the site, ensuring vehicles are moved safely and efficiently to support daily operations. This is a hands on, labour intensive role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors and has previous experience within a yard, transport or vehicle movement environment.
This Yard Operative position is initially offered on a 3 month temporary basis, with regular Monday and Friday shifts required each week, plus additional weekday cover when required.
Key responsibilities
• Moving and shunting vehicles around a large 7 acre site
• Supporting daily yard operations and maintaining an organised working environment
• Safely manoeuvring vehicles around the site
• Carrying out general yard duties as required
• Assisting with vehicle movements during busy periods
• Providing additional cover for holidays and sickness when required
• Following site health and safety procedures at all times
Skills and experience required
Essential:
• Previous experience working within a yard, transport, logistics or similar environment
• Ability to work outdoors in a physically demanding role
• Good awareness of health and safety procedures
• Reliable and flexible approach to work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
• Previous HGV, truck or commercial vehicle shunting experience
• Experience moving vehicles within a depot or large site environment
