What’s the pay?

Pay rates depend on the type of work, how many hours you're contracted for, and the client you'll be working with.

Typically: HGV / PSV Technicians earn between £26 – £32 per hour LCV Technicians earn between £22 – £25 per hour

What hours am I going to work?

Standard hours for contracting technicians are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Some clients may offer weekend work or extra hours, and your consultant will let you know about any additional availability before you accept the job.

Do I need to set up a limited company?

You can work in whichever way suits you best. We accept all the following options at Venatu Automotive:

  • Limited Company
  • Sole Trader
  • Umbrella Company

Do I need insurance?

Yes, if you’re working through your own limited company, you’ll need public liability insurance with at least £1 million cover. If you employ other contractors under your company, you’ll also need employers’ liability insurance.

Do I need my own tools?

Yes. Contractors are expected to bring their own tools, PPE, and equipment, and be able to move them between sites. You should have everything needed to carry out repairs, general maintenance, and minor damage fixes. Arriving without the proper tools may result in the job being cancelled or payment being withheld.

How long does a contract job last?

Contract lengths vary depending on the client’s needs, but most last around one month. You’ll receive full written details by email, including the site address, start time, and a contact person.

Do I need experience

Yes. We require a minimum of four years of experience to become a contracting technician with Venatu. You’ll also need to provide certificates of your qualifications or references from previous employers during onboarding.

What qualifications do I need?

You’ll need to provide proof of your qualifications so we can complete a compliance check before your first assignment. Required qualifications include:

Level 3 IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) or NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) or equivalent Irtec Certification (Institute of Road Transport Engineers)
