About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and experienced HGV Yard Operative to join a busy workshop team in Northampton. This HGV Yard Operative role would suit someone who enjoys practical, hands on work and wants a stable position with regular hours.
The HGV Yard Operative will play an important part in supporting daily workshop and yard operations through vehicle movements, road testing and general site duties. This opportunity is particularly well suited to a semi retired Class 1 driver, someone looking to move away from full time driving, or an experienced transport professional seeking a more local and less demanding role.
As an HGV Yard Operative, you will spend your time supporting workshop activities, carrying out local vehicle movements and helping to maintain a safe, organised and efficient working environment. The successful HGV Yard Operative will become a valued member of the team, contributing to the smooth running of day to day operations.

Key Responsibilities
• Moving vehicles around the site and workshop
• Collecting and delivering vehicles locally for repairs and maintenance
• Road testing vehicles following workshop repairs
• Assisting with loaded brake testing
• Loading and unloading vehicles for testing purposes
• Carrying out general yard duties and site upkeep
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment
• Supporting workshop operations through vehicle movements and preparation tasks
Skills and Experience Required
Essential Requirements
• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
• Safe and professional approach to vehicle movements
• Reliable and dependable work ethic
• Comfortable carrying out a combination of driving and yard based duties
• Good attention to detail
• Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safety
Desirable Requirements
• Previous experience in a yard, workshop or transport environment
• Experience carrying out vehicle movements or road testing activities
