About the role
This BOM Administrator position offers an excellent opportunity to join a busy and collaborative environment where accuracy and organisation are key to success. As a BOM Administrator, you will be responsible for the creation, maintenance, and control of material data, Bill of Materials structures, and production information to support efficient factory operations and successful project delivery.
The BOM Administrator will act as the main point of contact for all BOM and material related queries, ensuring that part codes, sub assemblies, and supporting documentation are correctly created and maintained within the ERP system. This BOM Administrator role plays a vital part in supporting production planning by releasing shop orders in line with forecasts, monitoring material availability, and working closely with factory and project teams to resolve shortages and delivery risks.
Working as a BOM Administrator, you will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to maintain data integrity and support consistent, on time delivery. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, as the BOM Administrator will contribute to daily operations and continuous improvement across the wider team.
Key responsibilities
• Develop and maintain standard BOM templates to ensure consistency, accuracy, and efficiency
• Act as the first point of contact for all BOM queries, providing timely and accurate support
• Create new part codes, ensuring all required fields are completed correctly
• Create, manage, and maintain standard sub assemblies within the system
• Maintain accurate document links and associations to parts and sub assemblies
• Release shop orders in line with weekly production forecasts and programme requirements
• Support system and data housekeeping to maintain accuracy and integrity
• Attend and contribute to daily and weekly project and production meetings
• Liaise closely with the factory to manage shortages, deliveries, and demand changes
• Build and maintain strong working relationships across teams
Skills and experience required
Essential:
• GCSEs or equivalent, including Mathematics and English
• Ability to accurately quantify and schedule materials from drawings
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
• Strong work ethic with a proactive and positive attitude
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
• High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to develop skills in reading technical drawings and material take offs
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload
