What the Role Involves

Trailer Body Installation and Build:

• Installing curtainsider and tautliner systems to new or refurbished trailer chassis, fitting top rail assemblies, corner posts, curtain tensioning rail and ratchet arrangements and floor tracking systems to the manufacturer's specification, ensuring the completed installation meets the structural and operational requirements of the trailer's intended load duty
• Fitting flatbed and dropside body assemblies to trailer chassis, installing headboard, stanchion and load restraint track systems and any accessories specified by the customer including sheeting systems, bungee rail, side boards and deck equipment
• Fitting internal body furniture and load management systems to curtainsider and van body trailers - internal rails, lashing ring systems, divider nets, multi-deck systems and temperature probe installations - working to the customer's load configuration specification and ensuring every installation is secure and fit for operational use

Tail Lift Installation and Service:

• Installing tail lift units to trailer chassis and van bodies, following the manufacturer's installation specification for the specific tail lift model and mounting configuration, completing the hydraulic connection, electrical connection to the trailer or vehicle circuit and any structural reinforcement required by the installation specification
• Carrying out LOLER-compliant inspection and testing of installed tail lifts following installation, completing the documentation required for the tail lift's first examination record and providing the operator with the examination certificate and any defects report in the format their compliance records require
• Servicing tail lift units at the manufacturer's specified service intervals, checking hydraulic fluid levels, pump condition, cylinder seals, safety circuit function, platform condition and all structural fastening points and replacing any component identified as worn, damaged or approaching end of service life

Refrigeration and Temperature-Control Systems:

• Fitting refrigeration unit mounting brackets, fuel supply systems, electrical connections and body interface components for transport refrigeration units from Thermo King, Carrier, Zanotti and other principal manufacturers, working to the refrigeration unit manufacturer's installation requirements for the specific trailer body type
• Installing internal body insulation panels, door seals, load bar systems and temperature-controlled bulkhead arrangements within refrigerated and multi-temperature trailer bodies, ensuring the thermal integrity of the installation meets the ATP standard applicable to the trailer's intended product category

Lighting, Electrical and Ancillary Fitting:

• Installing and testing trailer lighting systems in compliance with the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations, fitting rear marker boards, hazard warning equipment, reflective chevron panels and any specialist lighting required by the trailer's intended operational environment
• Installing trailer electrical connections, ABS system wiring, EBS components and any telematics or trailer tracking system fitted during new build or refurbishment, terminating and labelling connections correctly and completing the functional test of the completed electrical system before the trailer is cleared for road use
