What the Role Involves

• Carrying out planned preventive maintenance services across rigid and articulated vehicles and trailers including engine servicing, brake overhauls, suspension checks, lighting, fluid levels and all service items to the manufacturer's specification or the operator's maintenance schedule
• Diagnosing and repairing engine faults including fuel system issues, turbocharger faults, EGR and aftertreatment system defects, coolant leaks and overheating, and oil system problems using a combination of mechanical knowledge, diagnostic tools and hand instruments
• Inspecting and repairing braking systems including disc and drum brakes, air brake circuit components, ABS and EBS systems, trailer brake connections and parking brake mechanisms
• Replacing and repairing clutch assemblies, gearboxes at minor component level, prop shafts, differentials, axle bearings and associated drivetrain components
• Inspecting and replacing suspension components on rigid and articulated vehicles including leaf springs, parabolic suspension, air suspension systems and associated linkages, steering geometry components and fifth wheel assemblies and kingpins on artics
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults on lighting, starting and charging systems, cab electronics, trailer ABS connections, tachograph systems and ancillary electrical equipment
