The F&I Sales Executive operates at the commercial heart of a vehicle purchase, presenting and placing finance and insurance products that protect the customer, generate significant dealership and product provider revenue and build long-term customer value. While the Business Manager in a franchised dealership typically holds responsibility for the full finance and insurance function - covering vehicle finance, GAP, service plans, warranties, cosmetic protection and payment protection - the F&I Sales Executive role sits at various points along the spectrum between a junior or developing F&I function in a dealership and a dedicated insurance or protection product sales role at a standalone automotive finance or warranty product provider.
In both contexts the core of the role is the same: have a compliant, needs-based conversation with a customer who is buying or has bought a vehicle, understand their concerns and requirements, present relevant products clearly and honestly, and help them make a decision that serves both the customer's interests and the business's commercial targets.
Venatu recruits F&I Sales Executives for permanent and contract roles across franchised car and commercial vehicle dealerships, used car supermarkets and independent retailers, automotive warranty and GAP insurance providers and motor finance businesses throughout the UK. This role sits within our car dealership recruitment division.

FAQ
What is the difference between an F&I Sales Executive and a Business Manager in a dealership? A Business Manager typically holds full accountability for the F&I function within a dealership, presenting the complete range of finance and insurance products, managing the lender relationship and reporting the function's commercial performance. An F&I Sales Executive may work in a supporting or developing capacity alongside a Business Manager, handling specific products or lower-value sales presentations, with less autonomy and seniority. In some larger-volume operations the titles are used for the same function at different experience levels, with F&I Sales Executive being the entry or developing grade. Venatu confirms the precise scope with each employer.
Do F&I Sales Executives need to be FCA authorised? F&I Sales Executives do not hold personal FCA authorisation but must operate under the FCA authorisation of their employer. Their employer is responsible for ensuring they receive appropriate training, carry out their product sales in compliance with Consumer Duty requirements and are adequately supervised. All candidates must understand the regulatory framework within which they are selling and demonstrate awareness of the FCA Consumer Duty obligations relevant to their role. Venatu confirms the compliance training and supervision framework with each employer before presenting candidates.
What products does an F&I Sales Executive sell? Product ranges vary by employer but typically include vehicle finance, GAP insurance, extended warranties, service plans, tyre and alloy wheel cover, cosmetic protection, key and lock cover and payment protection insurance. Standalone product provider sales roles typically focus on one or two product categories, while dealership F&I roles may cover the full protection product set. Venatu confirms the exact product portfolio with each employer before presenting candidates.
What does an F&I Sales Executive earn in the UK? Experienced F&I Sales Executives in dealership roles typically earn between £24,000 and £32,000 base with OTE ranging from £36,000 to £52,000 depending on volume and product penetration. Senior roles reach OTE of £60,000 or more. OTE is directly tied to the employer's monthly sales volume and product mix. Venatu benchmarks realistic OTE expectations with each client before beginning a search.
What is the progression from F&I Sales Executive? The most common and direct progression is to Business Manager, typically via a structured internal development programme involving additional product training, compliance certification and supervised presentation experience. Beyond that, progression moves towards Senior Business Manager, Group Business Manager and, in product provider roles, Regional Sales Manager and National Account Manager.
