What the Role Involves

Responsibilities vary by employer type and estimating context but typically include:

Bodyshop and Accident Repair Estimating:

• Producing vehicle repair cost estimates using Audatex, Thatcham or other approved estimating systems in line with insurer guidelines, manufacturer repair methods and network pricing protocols
• Submitting estimates to insurers, fleet operators or claims management organisations and managing the authorisation and supplement process through to repair approval
• Reviewing inspection photographs or physically appraising vehicles to ensure estimates are complete, accurate and defensible before submission
• Liaising with the Bodyshop Manager and workshop team to ensure all repair costs are captured and any additional work identified during repair is properly costed and authorised as a supplement
• Managing a live pipeline of estimates, tracking authorisation status and chasing outstanding approvals to protect workshop loading

Commercial Vehicle and Specialist Build Estimating:

• Receiving customer or fleet operator vehicle specifications and preparing detailed build cost estimates covering chassis, body, engineering, paint, equipment and subcontracted specialist installations
