What the Role Involves

Responsibilities vary by operator type and service but typically include:

• Driving single and double-deck coaches and mini-coaches safely and professionally on private hire, tour, contract or express routes
• Carrying out pre-drive vehicle checks in line with operator and DVSA requirements including tyres, lights, mirrors, brakes, fluid levels and coach interior condition
• Greeting passengers professionally and providing a courteous, helpful service throughout the journey
• Managing passenger boarding, seat allocation and safety briefings where required
• Navigating independently to destinations using maps, route sheets and satellite navigation systems
• Operating on-board passenger systems including PA, entertainment, air conditioning and accessibility equipment
• Adhering to tachograph legislation, driving hours rules and rest period requirements
